A group of Dublin-based entrepreneurs, all under 30, are making final preparations for the regional stage of the ‘Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur’ competition, competing for a share of the €2million national prize fund.
Fourteen young entrepreneurs from the North Dublin region, with business ideas from fashion to technology to food, will go before the judges next Monday, October 6th, in one of the competition’s first County Finals.
Congratulating the finalists, Oisin Geoghegan, Head of Fingal Local Enterprise Office said: “With categories for Best New Idea, Best Start-Up and Best Established Business, the ‘Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur’ competition offers plenty of scope for young, aspiring entrepreneurs across Ireland. Having attended the Entrepreneurs Bootcamp and with their business plans in place, these finalists must now pitch their business ideas to a panel of experts and compete for the top prize.”
As part of Fingal Enterprise Week 2014, three category winners and an overall ‘Best Young Entrepreneur’ will be announced, sharing a prize fund of €50,000 before competing at the Regional Finals in November 2014. ‘Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur’ will be revealed following the National Finals in December 2014.
Geoghegan added: “Supporting entrepreneurship across all ages, the Fingal Enterprise Week 2014 programme also includes events for student enterprise as well as five days of seminars and workshops aimed at encouraging SMEs and stimulating business development.”
Fingal Local Enterprise Office will announce its County Winners during the ‘Success Leaves Clues’ event on Thursday, October 8th at The Grand Hotel, Malahide, hosted by broadcaster Ian Guider and featuring Keynote Speaker, Sean Gallagher. The Fingal Enterprise Award winner for 2014 will also be revealed at the networking event.
Announced by the government in May 2014, the Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur competition is run through the Local Enterprise Offices and aims to promote a culture of entrepreneurship among young people. Further information can be found at www.ibye.ie
